Pick your car down to the engine in the box at the top of this page, in our web shop or in the app, and you see the parts recorded for that engine. If you want certainty on a specific part, send us the VIN or chassis number on WhatsApp and we will check it by hand before you order.
What does “Order-in” mean?
We do not have that part on the shelf in Dar es Salaam, so we bring it in; most arrive in 5 to 20 days. You pay a 50% deposit when you order, within 48 hours, and the rest of the price plus delivery when the part is here. In our web shop or the app you can pay the deposit straight away; on WhatsApp, send us the request and we set up the order for you. To cancel, message us: we keep 10% of what you paid before we order the part and 40% after, and if it is not here within 20 days of your deposit you can cancel and get everything back. How much is delivery?
In Dar es Salaam it depends on the value of the parts you pay for, not on where in the city you are, and large orders are delivered free. The fee table is on the delivery page. Collecting your order at our office costs nothing. Upcountry, parts go by bus and usually arrive in 2 to 4 days: the same fee takes them to the bus in Dar es Salaam, and we agree the bus fare with you on WhatsApp; it is never charged online.
How do I actually pay?
Anything we hold in stock can be paid for in full in our web shop or the app. Checkout offers mobile money – M‑Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas and HaloPesa – where you approve the request on your handset, and card, which opens Stripe’s own payment form. We never see your PIN or your card number. Anything we bring in is paid in two steps, a 50% deposit when you order and the balance when it is here, by mobile money, card or Lipa Number 38013767, MOTARIX AUTOMOTIVE, from your M‑Pesa, Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, HaloPesa or T‑Pesa menu. You do not need to type any code or order number. We find your payment on our bank statement by the phone number, the amount and the time. Prices are in Tanzanian shillings, delivery is charged on the value of the parts you pay for and shown to you before you pay, and paying in our web shop or the app needs an account with an email address, plus a name and a phone number, and for delivery the area (or the town for the bus). Do I need an account?
Not to browse. You can search the whole catalogue, fill a cart and send us an order on WhatsApp without giving us your name, and there is no password anywhere. An account is asked for at three moments: saving your first car, asking us to identify a car from its plate or chassis number, and paying. You sign in with Google or a code we email you, or with Apple on iPhone, and creating the account asks for a mobile number. What the app records, signed in or not, is in our privacy policy.
